4 smugglers held with 89 kg of drugs

TALOQAN (PAN): Four smugglers have been have been arrested with 89 kilograms of drugs by intelligence agents in northern Takhar province, officials said on Monday.

Sunnatullah Taimouri, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News three drug smugglers were detained from a house in the Bolak Ratboz area on the outskirts of Taloqan.

He said the detainees, belonging to Badakhshan province, wanted to smuggle 67 kilograms of drugs to the Tajikistan border.

Tamuri said security forces also detained another smuggler from the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province. The man was smuggling 22 kilograms of hashish in his car to Kunduz.

Last month, three Afghans trying to smuggle drugs to Tajikistan were gunned down by Tajik border police.
