QALAT (PAN): The Shahr-i-Safa district chief has been detained and referred to the attorney’s office weeks after he roughed up a judge, an official said on Monday.

Provincial appellate court chief, Abdul Ghaffar Afzali, told Pajhwok Afghan News the district chief, Abdul Khaliq Ayubi, had been under a judicial probe since he beat the judge weeks ago.

On Sunday afternoon, he was arrested and referred to the provincial attorney’s office by the appellate court, Afzali said. Ayubi’s case has been opened and a verdict would be given soon.

Ayubi took charge as the Shahr-i-Safa district chief around three months back.
