KABUL): Safi Airways, a privately-owned international airline, has started flights from western Herat City to New Delhi, the Indian capital, twice a week, the carrier said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the airline said its direct flights operated on Thursdays and Sundays, departing Herat at 11.10am and arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi at 2.50pm.

Flights from Delhi to Herat departed at 3.30pm and arrived at 5.20pm in Herat, making it convenient to the traveling public, it said.

The company operates a two-cabin service business and economy class with a modern fleet of airbus 319 and 320 aircraft on the route.

With increasing passenger numbers between Herat and Delhi, Safi Airways will be rolling out many promotions in encouraging more customers to patronize its services.

One such promotion is its Saffron Rewards, a customer loyalty programme with effect from February 1.

Frequent flyers on Safi Airways will be eligible to collect their boarding pass and trade them for free tickets on Safi Airways route network. 07 boarding stubs will entitle the claimant to a one way ticket and 11 boarding stubs for a return ticket.
