Tension with Kabul defused, says Aziz
Islamabad wanted Kabul to resolve its problems itself, Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz said late on Wednesday.
Speaking to the state-controlled radio, he called a peaceful neighbourhood Pakistan's first foreign policy priority, Enough progress had been made in that direction, he claimed.
"Without a peaceful neighbourhood, we cannot achieve the agenda of economic development," argued Aziz, who said basic changes had been made in the foreign policy during the last six months.
The advisor claimed tensions with Afghanistan had been defused over the past two years when bilateral relations, including economic and trade ties, improved.
Pakistan had been supportive of the Afghan reconciliation process, he said, urging the Afghans to resolve their problems themselves.
