GHAZNI CITY (PAN): Three Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed and seven others, mostly civilians, wounded when a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into an ALP post in Andar district of southern Ghazni province on Monday, an official said.
Deputy Governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the afternoon. The injured included two women and three children.
The ALP post was completely destroyed in the blast, he said, adding the women and children were passing the area when the attack occurred.
Andar district chief Mohammad Qasim Desiwal said the attack took place around 3:30pm in Chardiwal village.
As usually, the Taliban have claimed responsibility for the car suicide bombing, with the group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid saying 27 ALP members and other security forces were killed.
In a statement issued to Pajhwok, Mujahid said the suicide attack was carried out by Mohammad Raihan, a Taliban member from Nawa district.
