BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Fifty police officers in central Bamyan province completed a two months training course aimed at ensuring security for elections, officials said on Thursday.

Deputy Governor Mohammad Asif Mubaligh said the graduating police officers had huge responsibility on their shoulders to maintain peace and stability in the country.

Police should get ready to ensure law and order during the April presidential and provincial council elections, he remarked, saying militants had a strong presence in Ghandak area near Shibar district staging.

Lt. Mohammad Hassan Habibi, the provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News core objectives of the training course included upholding of the constitution and human rights.

He added it was the 12th ceremony arranged for police officials from Bamyan and Daikundi provinces completing their training. Bamyan was the province where security transition started in 2011.
