KABUL (Pajhwok): Ustad Mohammad Saddiq Pasarlai, a renowned Pashtu poet, has died after a protracted illness at a hospital in India. He was 85.
Tawab Ghurzang, a spokesman for the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), told Pajhwok Afghan News on Monday Pasrarlai had been under treatment in a hospital in India for multiple diseases. “Pasarli breathed his last night,” he added.
Born in Qarabagh district of southern Ghazni province, Pasralai, the son of Ramzan Khan, spent four years of his yearly childhood in his hometown and later migrated to northeastern Kunduz province with his family.
He contributed to the Pashtu poetry and literature and provided a level-playing field for young Afghan poets.
He would be remembered for years among the countrymen due to his priceless services to the field of Pashtu poetry and literature.
Paying rich tributes to late Pasarlai, Ghurzung prayed the Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
