GHAZNI CITY (PAN against foreign troops and the government have been distributed in Deh Yak district of southern Ghazni province, residents said on Wednesday.
The distributors have asked residents to return them the form-like pamphlets bearing the logo “Islamic Alliance of Afghanistan” after filling out.
Two men, who posed as booksellers, were seen a day earlier in the Ali Qala area distributing the leaflets.
A resident of the area, Noor Rahman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the two men have been roaming the area over the past few days, asking people to fill out the forms.
He said such leaflets had also been placed in copies of the holy Quran in mosques. “It has been written to fill the forms and put them back.”
Another resident, Roohullah, who said to have filled out and returned the form to its distributers, told Pajhwok he was promised assistance after the April elections.
He said in the papers, people had been urged to wage jihad against the government and foreign forces.
Two such distributers have been arrested by local Taliban militants. A local Taliban commander, who wished anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the men in their custody said they had been offered 15,000 afghanis for the job. He did not say who paid them the money.
The commander said the detainees had been given the leaflets in Ghazni City for distribution to people in Deh Yak district.
Local officials have expressed their unawareness in this regard.
