KABUL system, an official said on Friday.

Kabir Haqmal, the Ministry of Education spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Britain had agreed to provide £49 million to help girls in the poorest rural areas to get access to a quality education.

British officials assured Afghan delegates of help in evaluating the system at a meeting on the sidelines of last week’s Education World Forum in London, the spokesman said.

Around 110 international education ministers met in London for the UK-led Education World Forum from 19-22 January, sharing and debating policy developments in education.

Education Minister Farooq Wardak, during meetings with senior British officials and other foreign dignitaries, stressed the need for continued global support for promoting the cause of education in Afghanistan, the spokesman said.

Wardak briefed his interlocutors on the achievements of his ministry, besides highlighting the salient features of the 2015 plan and a 10-year strategy for promoting education.
