Karzai, Cameron confer on security deal
KABUL (PAN): President Hamid Karzai has held a telephonic conversation with British Prime Minister David Cameron on various issues of mutual interest, including the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA).
During Friday’s conversation, Karzai said the consultative Loya Jirga’s endorsement of the accord proved the strong friendship between Afghanistan and the US.
He added: “The Afghans want peace and security in their country. Practical and resumption of peace talks with the Taliban is among important preconditions for inking the deal.”
For his part, Cameron assured Karzai of Britain’s continued support for Afghanistan, the statement concluded.
