KABUL‘s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, media reports said.
The bomb ripped through Pak Hotel near a Shiite mosque in the Kucha Risaldar neighbourhood of Peshawar, the provincial capital, according to DawnNews. Superintendent of Police Muhammad Faisal Mukhtar said it was a suicide attack.
He added some of the injured, including women and children, were in critical condition. The casualties were evacuated to Lady Reading Hospital, where an emergency was declared, the news site reported.
Provincial Health Minister Shaukat Yousafzai told also journalists eight people were killed and 42 others injured in the bombing. “Six of the dead have been identified,” he added.
A hospital official told local journalists eight dead bodies and 32 injured people had been brought to LRH. The bomber blew himself up in the congested area near the Qissa Khwani Bazaar, damaging many shops and residential buildings.
Hours before the assault, a prominent Shia leader was shot dead in the city, triggering an angry protest outside the LRH, where his body was taken.
