KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): An inaccurate survey prompted donor agencies to stop aid to some government departments in southern Kandahar province, officials said on Wednesday.

The survey, which had been carried out by an unknown organisation, was discussed at a meeting at the governor’s house.

Officials, who attended the meeting, strongly denounced the study and feared government institutions would face severe financial crisis if the expected aid faded away.

Deputy education director were present at the meeting.

Nazari said the survey showed many sectors in Kandahar as self-sufficient and in no need of aid from donors.

He said it remained unclear as to which organization had conducted the survey, which he called as irresponsible.

He added some donor organizations, including some United Nation agencies, had stopped funding government departments in Kandahar based on the survey’s findings.
