Police chief Gen. Mohammad Hakim Angar told a meeting police and army would remain neutral during the two-month electioneering period and would secure the election process.
With tribal elders and religious scholars present, Angar said influential individuals had been invited to the meeting to give advice and share their suggestions with police force to better discharge responsibilities.
He said the police had become professional and had no links with any political groups. He warned police officers of action if found guilty of violating laws and doing politics.
