Scores of MPs pledge support to Rassoul

KABUL (Pajhwok): A group of lawmakers on Friday met presidential candidate Dr. Zalmai Rassoul and assured him of their support in the April 5 ballot.

Former Bamyan governor Habiba Sarabi, Rassoul’s choice for vice-president, was also present during the meeting at Wolesi Jirga Deputy Speaker Mirwais Yasini’s residence.

A statement from Rassoul’s campaign team 51 Wolesi Jirga (lower house) and 22 Meshrano Jirga (Senate) members pledged support to the ex-foreign minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Rassoul said: “I feel privileged that public representatives from all provinces have reposed their confidence in me. I will stay in the electoral fray as plays out.”
