KABUL (Pajhwok): Two accused were awarded the death penalty by the primary court in third police district of Kabul on Tuesday, officials said.

Prosecutors said witnesses had proved in the court that Rafiullah and Qais were involved in killing moneychanger Noor Abbas before escaping with his money.

Shahbaz, a brother of Noor Abbas, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Rafiullah was had been chasing the moneychanger days before killing.

Rafiullah and Qais killed his brother a week after they gathered information about the businessman and where he kept his money, said Shahbaz.

After hearing arguments from prosecution and defence lawyers, Judge Safiullah Mujaddedi sentence Rafiullah and Qais to death.

His ruling was based on Article 395 of the Penal Code and Article 39 of the criminal law, Mujaddedi announced.
