KABUL, led by former prime minister Gulbadin Hekmatyar, has finally decided on lending support to presidential candidate Qutbuddin Hilal.
Dr. Ghairat Baheer, in charge of HIA political affairs, on Saturday told Pajhwok Afghan News the decision to back Hilal in the April 5 elections came at a meeting of the party’s executive body.
Baheer, who arrived in Kabul at the head of a delegation last week, said the group had called on all supporters to vote for Hilal.
He added his delegation had held talks with several political leaders, including Hilal, and details of the meetings had been conveyed in writing to Hekmatyar.
He said Hekmatyar, after consultations with other leaders, had approved support to Hilal in the presidential elections.
