KABUL province has been thwarted, the spy service claimed on Monday, when an intelligence official was killed by his friend after a brawl in northern Takhar province.
A statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said lawmaker Karamuddin Reza Zada was scheduled to hold meetings with elders. Militants plotted to assasinat him by planting roadside bombs on the road he was to travel.
The attemp was foiled after security forces arrested one of the attack organisers with a bomb, the statement said. Reza Zada had started his journey along with three local elders to meet other elders, but intelligence officials detected the plot. The NDS statement said the detained militant had confessed to hatching the conparicy.
In Takhar, the NDS officer was killed by his friend after a physical clash. Police had arrested the accused, police spokesman Abdul Khalil Aseer, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
