KABUL.

Addressing a regular weekly media briefing, MoFA spokesman Shakib Mustaghni vowed his country would strive to pursue result-oriented peace parleys with militants.

While exploring every possible avenue to take forward the process, Kabul would welcome each step toward practical peace parleys, he reiterated.

He said Kabul welcomed former Taliban leaders’ latest overture of peace. Taliban leaders, including Agha Jan Mutasim, , diplomats and incumbent military commanders and leaders held a meeting in Dubai earlier in the month.

The Dubai meeting unanimous agreed on the need for dialogue with the government and other rival factions, saying Islamabad had also initiated peace initiative with the Pakistani Taliban.

Mustaghni expressed optimism the support extended by Hezb-i-Islami (HIA), led by Gulbadin Hekmatyar, for presidential candidate Qutbuddin Hilal was a positive signal.
