FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): A Taliban fighter was killed and six local policemen were wounded during a clash in western Farah province on Monday, officials said.

The clash broke out after a group of insurgents stormed a local police checkpoint in the Shewan area of Bala Balok district, the governor’s spokesman said.

Fawad Askari told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash lasted about four hours and resulted in the said casualties. He said the wounded security personnel had been rushed to the provincial civil hospital and were said to be in stable condition.

He said two attackers, who were detained alive had been transferred to Farah City, the provincial capital, for investigation.
