ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday reiterated support for an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led reconciliation process.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said Islamabad continued to sincerely support peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government.
Dialogue with former Taliban leaders was an internal matter for the Afghan government, Tasnim Aslam told a weekly press conference in Islamabad.
Asked about a recent meeting involving ex-Taliban ministers and diplomats in Dubai, the spokeswoman said Pakistan backed the Afghan government’s push for a negotiated political settlement
Stability in the region was in Pakistan’s interest, she argued.
