KABUL Twenty20 2014 and the Cricket World Cup 2015, the board said on Friday.
The Best Overall Cricket Development and the Best Junior Participation Initiative awards were conferred on Afghanistan in recognition of its work to introduce cricket into the school curriculum, a statement from ACB said.
“It is rewarding to see Afghanistan’s efforts to develop the game of cricket recognised internationally,” said Dr Noor Mohammad Murad, CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
He added: “The recent achievements of our national teams are based on the development of good administrative structures, a cricket pathway from the beginning to the international level and an emphasis on strategic planning…”
ICC Global Development Manager Tim Anderson said: “It’s particularly encouraging that Afghanistan’s inspiring rise is being underpinned by outstanding and sustainable development structures.”
