Girl wins Seerat-un-Nabi contest
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A girl was declared the winner of a Seerat-un-Nabi (Life of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad) competition, involving hundreds of students and youth, in Jalalabad on Friday.
More than 400 individual took part in the event, organised by a local TV channel and a radio station. The contest was aimed at enhancing youth’s knowledge of Prophet Muhammad’s life, teachings and manners.
Organiser Akmal Zahir told Pajhwok Afghan News the winner had obtained 99 marks out of 100. The test had 100 questions, carrying one mark each, he said.
The winner received a laptop computer and several other presents, the runner-up a desktop computer and three other gifts and the third contestant was given mobile handset and books. Seven noted Nangarhar-based religious scholars will evaluate the answer sheets.
Nangarhar’s Deputy Governor Hanif Gardiwal, who appreciated the contest, hoped it would help enhance youth’s knowledge about the prophet’s life and teachings.
Elated by her success, Waheda said her hard work had come to fruition. The beaming girl intends to take part in similar competition in future as well. “This first position motivates me beyond description.”
