TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A tree plantation campaign was launched in Tirinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province, on Friday.

Deputy Governor Sher Pacha Orguni, who inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling, hoped the drive would add to the city’s beauty.

As part of the campaign, hundreds of thousands of saplings will be planted across Tirinkot. Mayor Najibur Rahman Azizi said many people had been hired to take care of the plants.

Resident Bari Dad said the municipality planted thousands of saplings every year. But they withered within days of being planted due to neglect, he lamented.
