KABUL a matter of serious concern.
At least 20 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and eight others kidnapped early Sunday morning when hundreds of militants stormed their check-post in Ghaziabad district.
In a statement from the Presidential Palace, Karzai condemned the ANA soldiers’ killing as a terrorist act. “These brave soldiers have sacrificed their lives to defend their homeland,” the president added.
The attack happened days after the Pakistani government announced the slaying of 23 Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel by the Taliban.
“Such attacks on both sides of the Durand Line pose a serious challenge for Afghanistan and Pakistan,” the president said, adding both countries should fight together against the scourge of terrorism.
Karzai directed his defence minister to launch a thorough probe into the Kunar incident and submit a report.
