Men detained in heroin smuggling bid

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Police on Friday detained three individuals with as many kilograms of heroin in the Salang district of central Parwan province, an official said.

Counternarcotics department official Col. Gulistan Asim told Pajhwok Afghan News the men were detained in Shikargah locality.

The detainees, all residents of Kalafgan district of Takhar province, wanted to smuggle the heroin to Kabul and then onward to Iran, he said.

They had a part of the drugs concealed in shoe pairs and had swallowed some heroin capsules, the official said.

Last week, police detained three smugglers with 23 kilograms of narcotics in Salang.
