KABUL attack in eastern Kunar province.
The rally by Afghanistan National Union of Workers asked the government to arrest and punish those involved in the killing of Khudai Mir, a labour union head in Helmand. Mir was killed by unknown gunmen last week in Lashkargah.
Mohammad Maroof Qaderi, the national union head, in his address to the rally asked the government to equip Afghan forces with modern weaponry and differentiate between the enemy and friend, an indirect reference to Pakistan.
He also called on President Hamid Karzai to compensate families of the 21 ANA soldiers, who were killed in Kunar’s Ghaziabad district in a well-planned attack involving hundreds of heavily armed militants, including Pakistanis, Arabs and Chechens, last week.
Qaderi announced giving an apartment of the union to the family of Khudair Mir.
