Fahim died on Sunday of heart attack at his Kabul residence, a presidential spokesman said, adding the government had announced a three-day mourning period, during which the national flags would be lowered half-mast.
Akhtar Munir, Pakistan’s embassy press officer in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Lt- Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch would arrive in Kabul on Tuesday morning along with a delegation.
Sayyed Ibrar Hussain, the newly designated ambassador to Kabul and other senior officials would accompany Baloch to attend Fahim’s funeral.
A large number of leaders from other countries are expected to arrive in Afghanistan to attend the funeral of Fahim.
