KABUL (Pajhwok): Six militants, including two Uzbek fighters have been killed and three others wounded in joint Afghan security forces operations in southeastern Paktika province, an official said Friday.
Mukhlis Afghan, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the search operations “Naveed” had been started some days back by joint Afghan security forces.
Afghan confirmed six militants, including two Uzbek fighters had been killed and three others injured during the offensives.
The operations were still underway in some parts of border Birmal and Sarobi districts, he said, adding small, heavy weapons and a huge quantity of explosives had been seized by the Afghan forces.
It had been decided that the sphere of ongoing operations would be extended to other districts of the province, he added.
Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
