KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on three bridges is underway in full swing and would be ready soon for inauguration in southeastern Khost province, the governor said on Friday.
Abdul Jabbar Naeemi, who visited the under-construction bridges in Maton Gulzar, Lakan and Farm Bagh areas, said the Asian Development Bank-funded projects would be ready in the near the future, a statement issued from his office said.
The governor, who first visited the bridge in Lakan area, was accompanied by police chief Col. Faizullah Ghairat, provincial council chief Syed Karim Khaksar, public works director Mamoor Shah and a number of tribal elders.
Naeemi said the Lakan bridge having 140 metres length and eight metres width was being constructed at a cost of 57 million afghanis.
The governor then inspected construction works of the Farm Bagh and Maton bridges. Khaksar hoped the bridges would help resolve travelling problems facing locals.
Mamoor said the constructions were near to complete and the bridges would be open for public use soon.
