PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Addressing a campaign rally, presidential runner Dr. Zalmai Rassoul on Monday said implementing development projects in northern Baghlan province was among his primary objectives if he won the April elections.

Accompanied by his two running mates and President Hamid Karzai’s brother Mahmoud Karzai, Rassoul told the gathering he would root out administrative corruption if succeeded in the presidential race.

The former foreign minister said he would work to bring reconstruction sectors.

Mahmoud, a member of Rassoul’s team, said he had already invested in the Baghlan’s cement factory and would help develop the province’s mines and other areas if their team succeeded in the elections.

Rassoul’s first vice-presidential candidate Ahmad Zia Massoud sought support from the gathering in winning the elections and called on the participants to play their part in resolving issues facing Afghanistan.
