KABUL (Pajhwok): A suicide attack on a foreign guest house in Kabul ended with the killing of all five bombers on Friday evening, Deputy Minister of Interior Gen. Mohammad Ayub Salangi said.

A group of five suicide bombers stormed the Roots of Peace guest house in Kart-i-Seh locality at around 4:00pm in the sixth police district.

Four of the attackers blew themselves up at the entrance to the building while a fifth was shot dead by security forces after a fierce battle, he added.

The assault touched off a four hour gun battle that came to an end at 8:00pm, according to Salanig, who said foreigners in the guest house were rescued.

A girl was killed in the blast which wounded a security guard of the guest house, he noted.

Eyewitness Naqibullah said the blast happened in front of a foreign guesthouse in the 6th police district at about 4pm. The explosion was followed by gunfire.

Pajhwok’s reporter at the scene said the blast took place near the parliament. Presidential runner Hidayat Amin Arsala’s residence and Qutbuddin Hilal’s campaign office are also located in the area.
