KABUL has reaffirmed its desire for successful Afghan presidential and provincial elections, slated for April.
President Mamnoon Hussain, who visited Kabul to participate in the Nawroz Festival on Thursday, expressed this desire at a meeting with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai.
According to the news agency APP, , the two leaders exchanged views on matters of common interest, including bilateral relations, regional issues and enhanced cooperation among Islamic countries.
Hussain and Karzai agreed that terrorism and extremism posed a common threat to their nations. They called for working together to combat the scourge.
Speaking at the quadrilateral summit, Hussain said: “We have consistently stressed the centrality of a political solution and underscored the need for all Afghans to join the peace talks.
“We are convinced that the road to sustainable peace in Afghanistan lies only through peaceful dialogue,” he added, asking countries in the region could help the process.
