JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A one day workshop on Civic Journalism arranged by Pajhwok Afghan News concluded in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, aimed at creating awareness among public about any fraud, irregularity and rigging attempt in elections.

Pajhwok Afghan News correspondent Mahbob Shah Mahbob said around 50 youth, including women participated in the workshop. The participants were informed about gigging and violation of elections laws during the vote.

The participants were briefed about Pajhwok initiative of creating “Afghans vote” page on facebook in a move to facilitate locals to take part to help ensure fair elections.

Matiullah Ahmadzai, provincial head of youth’s affairs thanked Pajhwok for taking all measures to ensure free and fair elections in the country.

Alia, a female participant, expressed satisfaction about women participation in the workshop and expressed optimism the move would go a long way to restrict fraud and rigging in the ballot.

Pajhwok Afghan News has arranged similar workshops in other providences as well.
