MAHMUD RAQI (Pajhwok): Thousands of people on Monday in northeastern Kapisa province announced support for presidential contender Qutbuddin Hilal.

Haji Mohammad Asif, candidate for provincial council, told the gathering that people of his province wanted Islamic system in the country and they had decided to vote in favour of Hilal.

He said Hilal would offer greater role to Mujahedeen in the government once he was elected as president of the country.

Qazi Najibullah, another speaker, asked Hilal to help develop Kapisa after he won the presidential polls.

Speaking on the occasion, Hilal said t people of Kapisa, Parwan and Panjsher had greater role in Jihad. He would specifically focus to resolve problems of the people of the three provinces.

Referring to the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with the US, he said no president could ink the deal without the consent of the nation.

Once elected as president of Afghanistan, he would step up efforts to bring progress, prosperity and development to the country.
