MAHMUD RAQI (Pajhwok): A former military general and jihadi commander was killed along with his son and two government officials as a result of a roadside bombing in central Kapisa province on Wednesday, officials said.
The explosion took place in the Bolaghin area of Kohband district in the afternoon, the district chief, Abdul Fatah Shafiq, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said Zeeb Noor, a former military general, his son and two district officials were killed in the blast.
Elsewhere, three Taliban fighters were killed by security forces during a clash that also left three children wounded in the Qaisar district of northern Faryab province, Governor Mohammadullah Batash said.
He said the clash broke out after insurgents attacked a security post in the Shaakh area and were repulsed.
The governor said the children were injured when the fleeing attackers opened fire at them.
The children, aged between five and nine years, were nephews of a local police commander, Babo.
Babo said four Taliban fighters were killed in the clash and the bodies of two militants remained on the clash site.
