JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Only six of 23 polling stations could be opened in the Chaparhar district of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday, an official said.

Independent Election Commission (IEC) official Dr. Akhtar Mohammad Ajmal linked the closure of most centres to a considerable delay in transferring of electoral materials.

But a tribal elder said only one polling centre was open in Dawlatzai village of the district. He alleged local warlords were seen stuffing ballot boxes in favour of a particular presidential candidate.
