MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A woman and her two children were injured when a rocket fired by Taliban insurgents hit a house in the Qaisar district of northern Faryab province on Sunday, an official said.
The Taliban also opened fire at an ambulance ferrying the injured to hospital after the house was attacked in Shakh Bazaar area in the morning, the district chief, Abdul Jamil Siddiqui, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The mother’s condition deteriorated in the second attack, Siddiqui said, adding the ambulance had been able to escape despite being hit by some bullets.
An Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander in the area, Bobi, said that militants usually targeted ALP posts, but sometimes rockets hit residential buildings.
A week back, a woman was killed and her three children wounded in a mortar shelling that hit a house in Dawlatabad district.
