KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The number of complaints registered against candidates has surged to 42 in northern Kunduz province, the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) said on Monday.

IECC Director Sibghatullah Wafai told Pajhwok Afghan News the complaints had been filed against 15 presidential and 27 provincial council contenders from Kunduz City and some districts in audio, video and written forms.

He said the IECC officials did not receive any complaints on the voting day when they visited 12 polling stations.

Meanwhile, some provincial council members claimed massive fraud. Wishing anonymity, a provincial council contender said 680 bogus votes were polled from 8: 00 am to 10:00 am at a polling station in the Yatim village of Chardara district.

He said it was impossible to cast 680 votes in two hours.
