MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A fresh clash between Kuchi and Hazara tribes was feared on Wednesday by the Military Council in central Maidan Wardak province.

There has been a history of clashes between the two communities over meadows’ ownership in Maidan Wardak and other provinces.

The Wardak Military Council alerted security forces and demanded their deployment to areas in the Daimirdad district, where the conflict could possibly erupt.

Governor Abdul Majeed Khogyani, who chaired a meeting of the council in Maidan Shahr, said clashes between the two tribes had been prevented to a great extent in Daimirdad.

Seeing “foreign hand” behind the conflict, the governor said the issue could not be resolved completely so far. He asked security forces to prevent a fresh conflict before it occurred.

The military council passed a resolution urging defence and interior ministries to send army and police personnel to the district to prevent a possible breakout of clashes.

The council also decided to keep secure areas recently cleared of insurgents in Chak district.
