LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Taliban killed four construction workers and two government employees they had kidnapped earlier, officials in southern Kandahar province said on Monday.
Kandahar police spokesman Col. Abdul Ahad Chopan said the bodies of four construction workers abducted on April 4 in southern Helmand province were found on Monday in Band Taimur area of Kandahar.
The dead, a logistic officer, a driver and two guards, had been kidnapped by insurgents from Greshk district after they went outside to bring food for colleagues, he said.
The company has been engaged in construction of buildings for Afghan National Army (ANA) in the district, where a local Rahimullah said the victims belonged to Kapisa and Balkh provinces.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for killing the workers in notes they had attached to their bodies. The notes said the men were killed because they supported the Kabul government.
Meanwhile, the dead bodies of two kidnapped National Solidarity Programme (NSP) were found in the Takhta Pul district of Kandahar, an official said.
The Taliban kidnapped five NSP workers about five days ago, but released three of them following the intervention of tribal elders, Mahmood Achakzai, the town’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
