MAHMUD RAQI (Pajhwok): Votes cast at two sites in the Tagab district of central Kapisa province have been invalidated in light of complaints investigated, an official said on Tuesday.

Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) commissioner in Kapisa Qudratullah Javed told Pajhwok Afghan News the sites were in Joyeebar area of the district.

He said they had received and investigated 44 electoral fraud cases and the votes polled at the two stations were declared void on the basis of documented evidence.

He said the two sites were open on the Election Day, but insecurity kept security forces and IEC officials away from them, thus allowing opportunists to stuff ballot boxes.

He said one provincial council candidate was fined 15,000 afghanis after his gunmen were seen at a polling site and another was disqualified on the eve of the elections because he fell short of the age limit.

Javed said two Wolesi Jirga.

Meanwhile, the Independent Election Commission (IEC)’s regional office in western Ghor province announced tallying votes cast at 10 polling centres.

The sites are in Ghaghcharan, the provincial capital and Saghar district, Fazullah Jalal, the IEC chief in Ghor, said.

He said some ballot boxes at the sites had not been applied a specific glue provided by the IEC. But there were no fraudulent votes after the ballots were rechecked and matched with earlier result sheets.

He said 600 votes were cast at each site and they recounted all ballots if there had been any fraud.

Of a total 190 electoral sites in Ghor, boxes from 184 sites have been dispatched Kabul and from the remaining six sites were delayed due to snowfall and bad weather.
