“For the last one year, we have started the campaign titled: “Say no and stop violence against women” to defend women rights in the country, said, Zahra Sipar, head of women and children support and development organization, at a press conference on Tuesday.
So far, the successful meetings had been held in Kabul, Parwan, Panjsher, Nangarhar, Bamyan, Balkh and Herat provinces, she said, adding her organization secured hundreds of signatures to strengthen the cause.
Expressing optimism, Sipar said, government officials were better placed to address cases of violence against women.
Masooma Mohammadi, an activist and social worker, told Pajhwok Afghan News the signature campaign to “say no and stop violence against women” had helped decreased in violence against women and created awareness among masses.
