MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) would spend 320 million afghanis in central Maidan Wardak province on various projects this year, an official said on Thursday.

This was announced by the SCA’s Deputy Programme Implementation Director in Afghanistan Khalid Fahim at a gathering held in Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital, the governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said Fahim explained the SCA’s four-year plan to the gathering attended by the governor, local officials and the committee’s representatives.

He said the amount would be spent on projects in areas of health, assisting people with disabilities and providing residents with access to clean drinking water.

According to Khogyani, a major part of the amount 170 million afghanis would be spent on health sector’s development, 114 million Afghanis on education, 19 million afghanis on aid to the disabled and 9 million afghanis on safe drinking water.

Khogyani quoted Fahim as saying that some foreign donor agencies might be reducing their assistance to Afghanistan in future, but the SCA was committed to increasing its aid.
