KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Afghan security forces killed Taliban’s shadowy governor for southern Kandahar province along with his two colleagues in an offensive on Saturday, a statement said.
A statement by the governor’s office said the Taliban-designated governor Dr. Wasay was shot dead with his two colleagues in areas between Arghistan and Maiwand districts.
“Dr. Wasay was active in the province on behalf of rebels as the governor for Kandahar,” the statement added.
In addition, the security forces detained three insurgents and recovered a huge arms cache containing different brands of weapons in the Panjwai district offensive during the last two days.
Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
