FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): At least 80,000 women were provided with vocational training in different fields in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official of women affairs department said Saturday.
Livestock, handicraft and raising honey bees were among different fields that women were provided with formal training, Prof. Zafnoon Hasam Nateq, head of women affairs, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The training, she hoped would go a long way to make women economically independent and earn livelihood for themselves.
She said the strength women trained in different areas would further increase if the assistance from the organizations continued with the same pace.
Governor Shah Wali Adib said the provincial government would develop the province and make it economically prosperous particularly in the handicraft sector.
He said his government had always encouraged NGOs and other donors’ organizations for launching capacity building and vocational training programmes.
Afghan Aid is among those NGOs extended assistance which helped funded the vocational training of 14,000 women in eight districts of the province.
A numbers of trained women lauded the training programs and would leave positive impact on the women’s economy.
