KABUL (Pajhwok) President Hamid Karzai on Saturday ordered a probe regarding the alleged presence of a prison run by foreign soldiers at the Kandahar International Airport, his office said.
Karzai issued a decree assigning a delegation with investigating the allegation, a statement issued from the Office of Administrative Affairs at the Presidential Palace said.
NATO-led troops have allegedly set-up a prison in the premises of the airport in southern Kandahar province to hold Afghan citizens in custody for investigation.
Karzai assigned a high-level team to investigate the presence of any prison controlled by foreign troops at the airport.
The team includes Abdul Karim Qanat, Abdul Shakor Dadras, Gen. Anwar Shah, and Gen. Ghulam Farooq Barekzai, according to the statement.
