KABUL so far, the Military Bases Transition Commission head said on Sunday.

Amin Habib told this to a National Security Council (NSC) meeting chaired by President Hamid Karzai, a statement issued from the Presidential Palace said.

He called on the defence and interior ministries to ensure the bases were properly used by Afghan security forces.

National Security Advisor Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta suggested the remaining bases with NATO forces be evaluated if suitable to be used as industrial parks by the private sector.

At the meeting, defense and interior ministers briefed the meeting in detail about the security situation in the country. They said the security situation had remarkably improved in much of the country.
