TALUQAN (Pajhwok): Provincial health into northern Takhar province.
Dr. Muhammad Hassan Basej, provincial health director, told Pajhwok Afghan News low quality and expired medicines were being smuggled into the province despite the presence of drug control department.
“You see both these two syrup in my hands and both of them have new labels with extended dates. Both the syrups are expired, which cause severe health problems if a patient uses expired medicines,” he added.
Hasibullah, a local of Taluqan, the provincial capital, said they were shifting their patients to Pakistan for treatment because of the absence of health facilities here.
“My little son fell ill last year but doctors here in Takhar could not diagnose his malady while his health was going deteriorated by each passing day. I brought him to Peshawar for treatment. Within two days, my son recovered from illness,” he added.
He demanded the government should provide the local hospitals with professional and competent doctors and good medicines.
