Pakistan condoles Afghan flood losses
ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday conveyed his “deep sympathy and condolences” to Afghan President Hamid Karzai over the human and material losses caused by the recent flash floods in several provinces of Afghanistan.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here said Sharif conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the brotherly Afghan people and expressed the confidence that they would overcome this calamity with their characteristic resilience.
The devastating floods, triggered by days of raining, left at least 107 people dead, dozens missing, thousands homeless and destroyed crops on thousands of acres of land in Jawzjan, Sari Pul, Badghis and Faryab provinces.
