WASHINGTON (Pajhwok): General Joseph Dunford, commander of US and NATO, would receive the Distinguished Military Leadership award from the prestigious Atlantic Council this week, along with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
The annual Distinguished Leadership Awards to Hagel, Dunford and several others will be presented by the Atlantic Council at an event in Washington on April 30.
In a statement, Atlantic Council said Hagel would receive the award for his outstanding public service, contribution to global security and commitment to working with allies around the world.
Dunford will accept the award for Distinguished Military Leadership on behalf of the men and women and USFOR-A, after years of deployment and following Afghanistan’s promising democratic elections.
The European Commission President, José Manuel Barroso, will receive the award for Distinguished International Leadership for his dedication to the cause of European integration and ensuring that stability, prosperity, and democracy—reach across an ever-widening Europe.
Airbus Group CEO Tom Enders will be honoured with Distinguished Business Leadership award. A visionary business leader, Dr. Enders drove Airbus to be one of the world’s most competitive aerospace companies.
